The Texas Rangers acquired third baseman Patrick Wisdom from the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, in exchange for utility player Drew Robinson.

Wisdom, a former Midwest Leaguer, split the 2018 season between the Cardinals and their Triple-A affiliate. He batted .260 with 4 HR and 10 RBI in 32 games with the Cardinals, and .288 with 15 HR and 61 RBI in 107 games with the Memphis Redbirds.

Robinson played 95 MLB games for the Rangers during the past two seasons, cumulatively batting .204 with 9 HR and 22 RBI.

Hamilton signs with Royals

Former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton agreed to a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

The former Midwest Leaguer is known for his speed, but has not reached base consistently during his six-year major-league career. Last season he batted .236 with 29 extra-base hits, 29 RBI, 46 walks and 34 stolen bases in 153 games with the Reds.

Hamilton played for the Dayton Dragons in 2011, batting .278 with 30 extra-base hits, 50 RBI and 103 stolen bases in 135 games. He set a new single-season record for stolen bases the following season, swiping 155 bags in 132 games in High-A and Double-A.
