Bowling Green Hot Rods infielder Trey Hair and West Michigan Whitecaps RHP Chance Kirby respectively were named the Midwest League’s offensive player and pitcher of the week for August 20-26.
Hair played in six games during that period, batting .435 (10-for-23) with two home runs, two triples, two doubles, one walk, nine runs batted in, and six runs scored. In 51 games with the Hot Rods this season, the Tampa Bay Rays prospect is batting .274 with 19 extra-base hits, 19 RBI and 29 runs scored.
Kirby excelled in his Saturday start vs. the Great Lakes Loons, scattering three hits while striking out eight and walking none in seven innings. The Detroit Tigers prospect has a 2.60 ERA with 17 strikeouts and four walks in 17.1 innings/three starts for the Whitecaps this season.
