Extra-inning loss ends Hot Rods’ win streak at 10

The Chiefs beat the Hot Rods 5-4 in 10 innings Wednesday, ending Bowling Green’s winning streak at 10 games and Peoria’s losing streak at four games.

The Hot Rods took a 4-3 lead into the 9th inning, but the Chiefs tied the score to send the game into the 10th before plating the winning run in the extra inning. The loss is Bowling Green’s first since the Hot Rods lost 1-0 to the Lake County Captains on April 27.

The Hot Rods had a 10-11 record before winning 10 straight games. Now they have a 20-12 record and a half-game lead in the Eastern Division after the second-place Lansing Lugnuts improved to 20-13 with a 9-4 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday.
