Tigers’ Sanchez hung with loss in rehab start for Whitecaps

Detroit Tigers RHP Anibal Sanchez got hung with a loss in his rehab start for the West Michigan Whitecaps at Four Winds Field on Thursday.

The South Bend Cubs won the game 3-1, scoring all their runs off Sanchez, who pitched four innings. In addition to the three earned runs, the Tigers hurler gave up five hits and two walks, and struck out three batters. RHP Alfred Gutierrez pitched the last four innings for the Whitecaps, giving up no runs on two hits and a walk. He struck out four and threw a wild pitch.

Sanchez was placed on the disabled list after he strained his left hamstring during a start against the Texas Rangers two weeks ago.

South Bend starter Bryan Hudson got the win in Thursday’s game after giving up only one unearned run on three hits and two walks in 7.2 innings. He struck out four and threw a wild pitch. The Chicago Cubs farmhand improved to 9-3 with a 3.91 ERA, 81 strikeouts and 52 walks in 124.1 innings (24 starts) this season.
