Chiefs first baseman Stefan Trosclair hit for the cycle in Peoria’s 13-10 win over the Beloit Snappers on Friday, collecting three of a Midwest League-record 20 extra-base hits by the two teams.
The 20 extra-base hits broke the still-fresh MWL record of 19 set by the Lansing Lugnuts and the West Michigan Whitecaps in their June 16 game. Thirteen of the 20 extra-base hits were by the Chiefs, breaking the previous MWL record of 12 by one team (achieved by six teams, including Peoria on July 3, 1985). The Chiefs hit nine doubles in Friday’s game (including two each by Kramer Robertson, Dylan Carlson and Juan Yepez), breaking their previous franchise record of eight doubles set in the July 3, 1985, game.
There were 15 runs scored in the 8th inning — 10 by the Chiefs and five by the Snappers. Trosclair and Yepez each had two hits in that inning. Trosclair and Yepez each had four hits in the game.
Six home runs were hit in the game, by Peoria’s Trosclair and Brian O’Keefe and Beloit’s Miguel Mercedes, Collin Theroux, Edwin Diaz and J.C. Rodriguez.
