The Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees completed a seven-player trade Tuesday that includes two former Midwest Leaguers and a top prospect.
The White Sox sent third baseman Todd Frazier and relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle to the Yankees for outfielders Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo and pitchers Tyler Clippard and Ian Clarkin. Rutherford was New York’s first-round draft pick in 2016.
Frazier and Clippard are Midwest League alumni. Frazier played 36 games with the 2007-08 Dayton Dragons, batting .321 with 9 HR and 25 RBI. Clippard pitched for the Battle Creek Yankees in 2004, going 10-10 with a 3.44 ERA, 145 strikeouts and 32 walks in 149 innings (26 games/25 starts).
Earlier on Tuesday, another trade involving two former Midwest Leaguers was completed. You can read about that in my previous post here.
