The West Michigan Whitecaps beat the Dayton Dragons 3-2 in 12 innings Tuesday, extending their winning streak to 10 consecutive games.
The Dragons took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th inning, but the Whitecaps tied the score in the bottom half before walking off with the win in the bottom of the 12th. The winning hit came off the bat of Josh Lester, whose bases-loaded single plated Sam Machonis.
The Whitecaps have a 6-0 record in the second half and haven’t lost a game since June 12 vs. the Dragons. Dayton has dropped its last four games, the team’s longest losing streak this season.
The Whitecaps won the Eastern Division’s first-half title with a 45-22 record. The Dragons claimed the Eastern Division’s first-half wild-card spot by finishing second with a 41-29 record.
