Loons’ Rincon blasts two homers, has four in four games

Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Carlos Rincon blasted two homers to lead the Great Lakes Loons to a 6-2 win over the Lake County Captains on Monday. The 19-year-old outfielder now has four home runs, seven runs batted in, and is batting .400 (6-for-15) with three walks in four games this season.

The Loons have played five games this season. Rincon did not play in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, and did not homer in the first game. He homered and went 3-for-4 Saturday, homered for his only hit Sunday, and homered twice and walked twice in five plate appearances Monday.

Myers hits first cycle of 2017

Former Burlington Bees catcher Wil Myers — now a utility player for the San Diego Padres — hit MLB’s first cycle of the 2017 season Monday. He accomplished the feat at Colorado’s Coors Field, the same place where former teammate Matt Kemp (now with the Atlanta Braves) hit San Diego’s only other cycle in 2015.

Myers batted .289 with 10 HR and 45 RBI in 68 games with the 2010 Bees.
