Deep-fried Twinkies are among the new food items the West Michigan Whitecaps are offering at Fifth Third Ballpark this year.
The West Michigan Whitecaps, well-known for the variety of interesting food items available at their ballgames, announced some notable additions to their concessions menu Thursday.
The winner of this year’s fan vote is beercheese poutine, which beat out nine other finalists. This dish consists of waffle fries, pulled pork, barbecue sauce and green onions, along with a beer-cheese sauce that acts as the gravy found in traditional poutine dishes.
The Comstock Park Burger, created by a pair of local students, is a hamburger served on a pretzel bun with Monterey Jack cheese and Doritos. Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the Whitecaps, is located in Comstock Park, a suburb of Grand Rapids.
Bac’n Bones are smoked pork ribs served on a bed of macaroni and cheese.
Cole’s Middles also include macaroni and cheese, stuffed in the middle of Cole’s bread rolls.
A new gluten-free option for Whitecaps fans is Brazilian Cheese Bread, which comes with a cheese dipping sauce.
There are two new concession carts at the ballpark this year: “Game of Cones” and “Wok Off.”
Game of Cones, named after the popular book and television series “Game of Thrones,” offers edible bread cones filled with your choice of pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, bacon, and several other options.
Wok Off has some Asian food options involving chicken, beef, rice and vegetables.
