Different ballpark, same result.

The Great Lakes Loons blanked the Clinton LumberKings 4-0 Saturday at Dow Diamond to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Midwest League Championship Series. The Loons have kept the LumberKings scoreless in their last 18 innings, after Great Lakes beat Clinton 4-0 Thursday at Ashford University Field, too. All that comes after the LumberKings beat the Loons 16-6 in the series opener Wednesday in Clinton.

All the scoring in Saturday’s game happened in the bottom of the 6th inning. DJ Peters doubled home the first run before the Loons tallied two more on a Zach McKinstry double. A Steve Berman RBI single provided the fourth and final run.

Game 4 begins at 2:05 p.m. ET Sunday at Dow Diamond. The Loons need only one more win to become Midwest League champions for the first time. The LumberKings need two more wins to get their first MWL crown since 1991.
