Minor League Baseball announced Thursday that Fort Wayne TinCaps catcher Austin Allen will receive the Midwest League Player of the Month award for April.

Allen led the Midwest League in batting average (.460) and slugging percentage (.603) in April. He started the season with an 11-game hitting streak and walked more times (10) than he struck out (eight) during the opening month.

The San Diego Padres prospect was named the Midwest League offensive player of the week for the period of April 7 (Opening Day) to April 17.
