Hot Rods hurlers strike out 16 more batters

Bowling Green pitchers struck out 16 batters in BG’s 7-2 loss to Lansing on Friday, one night after Hot Rods hurlers punched out 18 Lugnuts in a 8-4 win on Thursday.

In Friday’s game, Hot Rods starter Michael Velasquez (L, 0-2) struck out seven in four innings, reliever Taylor Hawkins struck out three in two innings, and reliever Diego Castillo struck out six in three innings. Lugnuts starter Francisco Rios (ND) struck out nine batters in 4.2 innings.

Entering Saturday, the Hot Rods pitching staff had 84 strikeouts in 79 innings, trailing only the Lake County Captains staff, who have 87 strikeouts in 80 innings. Fort Wayne TinCaps hurlers rank third with 82 strikeouts in 79.1 innings.
