The Kane County Cougars introduced several new food items to their ballpark menu Thursday, one week before the start of the Midwest League season.

The most notable addition is a half-pound burger called The Fatty. The burger is topped with a fried egg, jalapeno bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, pulled pork, brisket and grilled onions. It and other burger choices will be available at the new Glenmark Burger Cart on the third-base concourse.

The Cougars also will have a cart featuring gluten-free foods, including hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, vegetables and hummus.

The Italian Combo — Fontanini Italian sausage smothered with Italian beef and choice of giardiniera in a French roll — will be available at Wannemaker’s Outside Grill, where fans also can get foot-long Polish sausages, bratwurst and roasted corn.

Strike Zone Ultimate Nachos, available only in the Mueller Strike Zone table seating area behind home plate, are 64 ounces of nachos covered in nacho cheese, taco meat, salsa and the fan’s choice of jalapenos piled high inside a Cougars souvenir helmet.

The Dippin’ Dots hut returns this year with a new signature flavor for the team. “Cougar Freeze” is a blend of lime green, blue and orange ice cream beads that are dairy-free. For those looking for hand-dipped and soft-serve ice cream, Oberweis ice cream will be available in eight flavors at two locations, The Creamery and The Sweet Spot.

Raging Cougar Ale, the team’s specialty beer created by Two Brothers Brewing Company, returns this year. (The team describes the beer as a light and hoppy pale ale that is golden in color, with a nutty, caramel malt flavor.) Kane County became one of the first organizations in the Midwest League to feature their own branded beer when the Raging Cougar Ale was introduced last season. Additional beverages new to the ballpark this year include Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata and Leinenkugel Grapefruit Shandy.

Cougars unveil new team bus

Earlier this week, the Cougars unveiled their newly-branded team bus featuring the team’s new primary logo and the logo of their major-league affiliate, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
