Pujols homers twice in one inning for Angels

Albert Pujols homered twice in the 3rd inning to help lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 15-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in their spring training game Saturday.

Both homers came off Brewers starter Wily Peralta, who gave up 10 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in 2.2 innings.

Pujols was the Midwest League MVP in 2000, when he batted .324 with 17 HR and 84 RBI in 109 games with the Peoria Chiefs. He also shared MWL Prospect of the Year honors with Austin Kearns of the Dayton Dragons that season.

Kearns batted .306 with 27 HR, 104 RBI and 18 SB in 136 games that year, his second in the Midwest League. The previous year he batted .258 with 13 HR, 48 RBI and 21 SB in 124 games with the Rockford Reds.

Peralta pitched for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2009, going 4-4 with a 3.47 ERA, 118 strikeouts and 46 walks in 103.2 innings (27 games/15 starts). He also made a rehab start for the Timber Rattlers in 2015, giving up one run on two hits and no walks while striking out four in 2.2 innings.
