The Cedar Rapids Kernels have installed a new light-emitting diode (LED) video ribbon board in the outfield area of Veterans Memorial Stadium, to the right of the existing LED video scoreboard.
The new right-field ribbon board measures 8.5 feet tall by 85 feet long, and can display live video, still graphics and custom animations. Installation was completed Tuesday, and power to the ribbon board was turned on and tested in conjunction with the main scoreboard Friday, according to the team’s Facebook page.
The ribbon board replaced the old elevated tri-vision outfield signs, but reused the structural steel already in place. Spare parts from some of the tri-vision signs will be used to maintain the remaining tri-vision outfield signage.
Veterans Memorial Stadium will host the 2016 Midwest League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 21. You can read about it here.
