Former Cougars pitcher traded to Cubs

Former Kane County Cougars pitcher Aaron Brooks was traded by the Oakland Athletics on Thursday, swapped to the Chicago Cubs for utility player Chris Coghlan.

Brooks pitched for the Cougars in 2012, going 9-12 with a 4.98 ERA, 120 strikeouts and 26 walks in 153.2 innings. He made his major-league debut for the Kansas City Royals in 2014 and was traded to the A’s in 2015. He has made 15 MLB appearances, including 10 starts, going 3-5 with a 8.38 ERA, 40 strikeouts and 17 walks in 58 innings. All but seven of his MLB innings were pitched for the A’s.
