Former South Bend Silver Hawks first baseman Cesar Nicolas will be the Clinton LumberKings’ hitting coach this year, his first as a coach in the Seattle Mariners organization.
Nicolas played professional baseball for nine years, starting in the Midwest League in 2005 and ending in the independent Atlantic League in 2013. He batted .302 with 21 HR and 70 RBI in 91 games with the ’05 Silver Hawks.
Nicolas will be on the coaching staff of rookie manager Mitch Canham, who was announced as Clinton’s skipper last month. Former Wisconsin Timber Rattlers hurler Rich Dorman will be Clinton’s pitching coach.
