St. Louis Cardinals catcher Cody Stanley was suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, Major League Baseball announced Saturday.
This is Stanley’s second suspension for violating baseball’s drug policy. He was suspended for 50 games in 2012 after testing positive for two substances banned by MLB.
Stanley spent most of this season in Triple-A, but was promoted to the major-league club after rosters expanded on September 1. He played 101 games with the 2011 Quad Cities River Bandits, batting .264 with 11 HR and 66 RBI.
