San Diego Padres catcher Tim Federowicz homered in the third game of his rehab stint with the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
Recovering from March knee surgery, Federowicz began rehabbing with the TinCaps on Sunday. Through his first three games with the team, he is batting .273 (3-for-11) with a double, a home run, and three runs batted in. He is expected to stay with the TinCaps through the end of their current homestand (two more games).
Polanco, Chiefs one-hit Snappers
Starting pitcher Jhonny Polanco and three Peoria Chiefs relievers combined to one-hit the Beloit Snappers in a 1-0 victory Wednesday.
Sandber Pimentel, the fourth batter of the game, collected Beloit’s only hit, a single in the top of the 1st inning. Polanco gave up that lone hit, walked three, and struck out eight in six innings. RHP Cody Schumacher, LHP Nick Lomascolo and RHP Kyle Grana each pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Polanco.
Chiefs second baseman Darren Seferina went 0-for-4 to snap a 13-game on-base streak.
Cubs calling up Schwarber again
