Kane County’s winning streak ended at 10 games Monday when the Timber Rattlers beat the Cougars 5-4 in 11 innings at Fox Cities Stadium.
Alan Sharkey, who homered earlier in the game, scored the winning run to give Wisconsin its first walk-off victory of the season. Sthervin Matos also homered for the Timber Rattlers.
Matos and Tucker Neuhaus each had three hits and a run batted in for the Timber Rattlers. Chuck Taylor did the same for the Cougars.
Rehabbing Milwaukee Brewers leftfielder Khris Davis went 0-for-2 with a walk in what is expected to be his final game with the Timber Rattlers. He batted .100 (2-for-20) with three walks, two strikeouts and a sacrifice fly during his six-game rehab stint.
Hot Rods pitch another shutout
The Bowling Green Hot Rods’ 1-0 win over the Dayton Dragons on Monday was their 10th shutout of the season, best in the Midwest League.
Chris Pike (4.2 innings), Damion Carroll (2.1 innings) and Mike Franco (2 innings) were the Hot Rods pitchers involved. Carroll got his third win of the season and Franco notched his third save.
Dragons starting pitcher Wyatt Strahan gave up one run on eight hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out five batters.
Bowling Green’s No. 9 hitter, Grant Kay, drove in the game’s only run.
