Lansing Lugnuts infielder Jason Leblebijian and Cedar Rapids Kernels RHP Keaton Steele respectively were named the Midwest League offensive player and pitcher of the week for the period of June 15-21.
In his last seven games, Leblebijian batted .500 (14-for-28) with three doubles, three home runs, eight runs batted in, eight runs scored, and two walks. In 16 games with Lansing this year, he is batting .373 with 5 HR and 12 RBI.
In his only start last week, Steele got a no-decision despite pitching nine scoreless innings against the Burlington Bees. He scattered six hits, struck out seven batters, and walked none. The Bees won 2-0 in 11 innings.
In six appearances (five starts) this season, Steele is 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA, 30 strikeouts and eight walks in 37 innings.
