The West Michigan Whitecaps used a combination of great pitching and hitting to beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods 11-0 Thursday.
Whitecaps SP A.J. Ladwig pitched his best game of the season, striking out 10 while allowing only four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings. He got plenty of offensive support, as 10 different Whitecaps players got hits, and six drove in runs.
Hot Rods SP Henry Centeno gave up eight runs on 10 hits, two walks, a wild pitch, a balk and a hit batsman in 2.2 innings. He struck out one.
It was the second straight game that the Whitecaps won big over the Hot Rods. They won 10-2 Wednesday as two West Michigan players got three hits, and five others got two hits. Michael Gerber and Zach Shepherd each drove in three runs. Joey Pankake hit an inside-the-park homer, and Gerber hit a traditional tater.
Carousel coming to BG Ballpark
The Hot Rods announced Thursday they will add a new 28-foot wide, 16-horse carousel to Bowling Green Ballpark later this month. It will be placed on the right-field side of the concourse, next to Axel’s Adventureland.
