A two-out, three-run homer by Yairo Munoz in the top of the 8th inning was enough for the Beloit Snappers to beat the Peoria Chiefs 5-4 Wednesday at Dozer Park.
The Chiefs scored first in the 3rd inning. After being hit by a pitch, Oscar Mercado stole second and third base before touching home on a groundout by Collin Radack.
The Snappers took their first lead of the game on a two-run double by Edwin Diaz in the top of the 5th inning. After Munoz’s home run gave Beloit a 5-1 lead in the top half of the 8th inning, Peoria responded with three runs of its own in the bottom half. Justin Ringo drove in Magneuris Sierra with a sacrifice fly, then Alex DeLeon hit a two-run homer to make it a one-run game.
Snappers SP Junior Mendez got the win. He gave up one run on four hits, a walk and a hit batsman in six innings. He struck out one.
Chiefs SP Austin Gomber took the loss. He gave up two runs on five hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out four.
