Lake County Captains RHP Dace Kime pitched the best game of his professional career Sunday when he allowed only two hits, walked none, and struck out 12 in seven innings against the Great Lakes Loons.
It was the longest outing of his career, and the most strikeouts he has posted in a game. He was backed offensively by Claudio Bautista and Grant Fink, both of whom homered and collected a pair of hits in the 6-0 home win.
This is Kime’s second season in the Midwest League after a disappointing 2014 with the Captains (7-14, 5.22 ERA, 108 Ks, 56 BB in 136 IP). Baseball America still has him listed among its top 30 Cleveland Indians prospects (ranked No. 20 in 2015 Prospect Handbook). He has shown improvement in his first four starts this season: 1-2, 1.85 ERA, 25 strikeouts, 3 BB in 24.1 IP. Batters hit .276 against him last year, but have been held to a .218 batting average so far in 2015.
