Trahan’s homer helps Cougars down L-Kings 5-2

Stryker Trahan bats for the Kane County Cougars during Tuesday’s game.

A two-run homer by catcher Stryker Trahan was the key hit for the Kane County Cougars as they beat the Clinton LumberKings 5-2 on a chilly Tuesday night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

Second baseman Fernery Ozuna also did his part at the plate for Kane County, collecting three hits that included a stand-up triple.

LumberKings RF Estarlyn Morales had two hits and stole a base.

Neither starting pitcher fared well. LumberKings RHP Tyler Herb took the loss after giving up four runs (three earned) on nine hits and three wild pitches in six innings. He struck out three batters.

Cougars RHP Jeferson Mejia got a no-decision after giving up one run on three hits, six walks, two wild pitches and a hit batsman. He struck out five batters.
