Continuing the theme of my last post (about new menu items unveiled by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers) …
The News-Herald recently ran an article about new food items at Classic Park, home of the Lake County Captains, for 2015. It looks like the more unique menu additions will be offered on the suite level:
On the suite level, the new items include … Texas Tumbleweeds (battered and fried onion petals with mild jalapeno peppers), Buffalo mac-and-cheese, fish and calamari tacos, Hog Wild Burger (barbeque pork patty with jalapeno pepper, onion straws, lettuce, tomato, BBQ sauce), Farro salad (specialty grains with finely chopped vegetables and dressing), deli baguettes, and grilled Italian sausage or bratwurst on pretzel buns.
New food offerings on the main concourse include Philly cheese steak sandwiches, grilled bratwurst and grilled Italian sausage sandwiches, and corned beef and chicken hoagies. New dessert items include Oreo Churros (“a dense chocolate pastry served warm with an Oreo creamy middle and dipping sauce”) and specialty popcorn.
Here is a look at two of the new food items (photos from News-Herald reporter David Glasier’s Twitter feed):
Ballpark foodies likely know about the West Michigan Whitecaps’ annual contest asking fans to submit ideas for new culinary creations and then vote for one to be added to the menu at Fifth Third Ballpark. Previous winning suggestions include the Auger Dogger (a deep-fried hot dog on a stick, wrapped in spiral potato chips), the Baco (a taco in a bacon shell), the Declaration of Indigestion (a giant Philly cheese steak sandwich), and Chicks with Sticks (celery, carrots and hummus).
Voting has ended for this year’s contest, and the winner will be announced soon. You can read descriptions of the 10 finalists here.
The Kane County Cougars recently announced that Two Brothers Brewing Company created a craft beer specially made for the team to sell at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark this year. You can read my post about that and more here.
