Timber Rattlers unveil new food items for 2015

On Friday the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers continued their slow rollout of new food items to be offered at Fox Cities Stadium this year, unveiling two more culinary concoctions cooked up by executive chef Tim Hansen.

The On Wisconsin Burger — named after the University of Wisconsin fight song/Wisconsin state song “On, Wisconsin” — is a third-pound burger topped with a split brat, a beer-battered onion ring, cheese curds, nacho cheese, and fried sauerkraut. It will be available at the Brew City Grill on the first-base concourse.

The Flamethrower is a combination grilled chicken/BBQ brisket sandwich that includes smoky ghost pepper cheese and sriracha aioli. It will be available at the Festival Food Grill by the seating area above the left-field berm.

Two previously-announced signature sandwiches, the Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger and the Big Mother Funnel Burger, will be available at a new food stand called “Steak, Rattle & Grill” on the first-base side of the concourse. (I love that name, an obvious homage to the classic rock ‘n’ roll song “Shake, Rattle & Roll” that includes part of the team’s nickname in its title.)

The Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger is a third-pound burger with six slices of bacon and six slices of cheese between two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as the bun.

The Big Mother Funnel Burger is a one-pound burger covered with mozzarella cheese and bacon between two funnel cakes serving as the bun.

Among the other, more traditional sandwich options available at the new grill: a Philly cheese steak sandwich (chopped steak topped with bell peppers, onions, and four-blend mozzarella cheese).

Are there more food-related announcements to come from the Timber Rattlers before the Midwest League season starts on April 9? We’ll just have to wait and see!
