Two current Midwest League pitchers are on the World team roster for the All-Star Futures Game, which is scheduled to be played Sunday, July 13, at Target Field.
Burlington Bees RHP Victor Alcantara was part of the initial World roster when it was announced on June 24. Quad Cities River Bandits RHP Michael Feliz was added Monday, replacing Winston-Salem Dash RHP Francellis Montas, who was scratched because of a minor knee injury.
Alcantara is 4-4 with a 4.24 ERA, 66 strikeouts and one save in 70 IP (10 starts/16 games) for the Bees this season. The last Bees player to participate in the Futures Game was 2B Chih-Fang Pan in 2012. Pan batted .243 in 83 games with the Bees in 2012; he is batting .257 in 40 games with the Beloit Snappers this season.
Feliz is 3-2 with a 3.64 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 47 IP (10 starts/14 games) for the River Bandits this season. The last River Bandits player to participate in the Futures Game was RHP Shelby Miller, now a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, in 2010. Miller went 7-5 with a 3.62 ERA and 140 strikeouts in 104.1 IP (24 starts) for the 2010 River Bandits.
