Lake County Captains RHP Adam Plutko and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2B Chris McFarland were respectively named the Midwest League pitcher and offensive player of the week for the period of May 5-11.
Plutko won thanks to his stellar performance against the Bowling Green Hot Rods last Thursday. He struck out 13 batters while giving up only three hits and no walks in eight scoreless innings. He has 49 strikeouts this season, tied with West Michigan Whitecaps RHP Buck Farmer for the most in the Midwest League. He has walked only 10 batters in 35 1/3 innings.
McFarland batted .440 (11-for-25) with 2 HR, two triples, 3 RBI and 3 SB last week. He currently has an eight-game hitting streak. Overall this season, he is batting .299 with 6 HR, 15 RBI and 14 SB in 32 games.
