Minnesota Twins prospect Adam Brett Walker was named the Topps Midwest League Player of the Year today.
Walker, an outfielder, batted .278 with 27 HR and 109 RBI in 129 games with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. He led the Midwest League in home runs and runs batted in, and his 83 runs scored were good for second in the league.
Fellow Twins prospect Byron Buxton — Walker’s teammate on the Kernels for the first half of the season — was named the Topps Minor League Player of the Year last month.
