There are reports tonight that Byron Buxton, one of the Minnesota Twins’ top prospects, has been promoted from the Cedar Rapids Kernels to the High-A Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League.

This is not a surprise move; in fact, the most surprising part of it is it didn’t happen sooner, like at the Midwest League All-Star break. Buxton dominated the MWL this season, batting .341 with 8 HR, 55 RBI and 32 SB in 68 games. That includes today’s Kernels game, in which Buxton went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Here are some more photos I shot of Buxton, from the same game in Cedar Rapids that the photo at the top of this post is from (April 30, 2013, vs. the Lansing Lugnuts).
