Bees shortstop traded for big-league shortstop

Burlington Bees SS Sean Jamieson was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks traded shortstop Stephen Drew to the Oakland A’s for Burlington Bees SS Sean Jamieson in a waiver deal Monday night.

Jamieson batted .234 with 10 HR, 49 RBI and 25 SB in 119 games with the Bees this year. He was the starting shortstop for the Western Division in this year’s Midwest League All-Star Game.

Although he won’t play for Burlington anymore, Jamieson may not be leaving the Midwest League — at least not yet. He was traded to a team with a Midwest League affiliate, so it is very possible he will be assigned to the South Bend Silver Hawks for the remainder of the minor-league season.

Stephen Drew never played in the Midwest League, but his brother J.D. Drew played three games with the 2001 Peoria Chiefs as part of a rehab assignment. He went 6-for-11 with two doubles and a walk.
