Villone replaces Pratt as Chiefs pitching coach

Today I got my head shaved to raise funds for cancer research, something I’ve done for nine years through St. Baldrick’s. Originally I wasn’t going to mention that on this blog, but I decided to after learning that, unfortunately, there is a recent Midwest League development involving cancer.

Former big-league pitcher Ron Villone is replacing Tom Pratt as the pitching coach of the Peoria Chiefs because Pratt was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and will undergo chemotherapy. You can read more about Pratt’s condition here.

My thoughts are with Pratt and his family, as well as the countless other men and women who are diagnosed with cancer every year. Someday a cure will be discovered. Let’s hope that happens soon.
