Milwaukee Brewers prospect Nick Ramirez hit two home runs in minor-league spring training game action Saturday. He played in 36 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers last season, hitting .197 with 3 HR and 23 RBI.
Ramirez was drafted by the Brewers last year and started his pro ball career with a bang, hitting .369 with 8 HR and 30 RBI in 23 games with the rookie-league Helena Brewers before being promoted to Class A Wisconsin. I expect Ramirez to start this season playing first base for the Timber Rattlers again.
Per my request, Brad Krause of Krause Sports Photography sent me a couple photos of Ramirez in action Saturday. In the photo below, Ramirez is holding Cincinnati Reds prospect Taylor Wrenn on first base. Wrenn also was drafted in 2011, but he didn’t play in the minors last year. My guess is Wrenn probably will play for the Dayton Dragons sometime this year.
Since this post is mostly about Nick Ramirez, I figure this is a good time to share a couple photos that I took of him with the Timber Rattlers when I visited Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton late last season.
In the photo above, Ramirez is wearing a Timber Rattlers uniform that is based on a throwback Brewers uniform and worn on Sundays. In the photo below, he is wearing the regular Timber Rattlers uniform.
