Lezotte leaves LumberKings; Gauthier gone from Hot Rods

Dave Lezotte, the radio voice of the Clinton LumberKings since 2006, is leaving the team to become the media relations coordinator for the Gwinnett Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

Likewise, Tom Gauthier recently left the Bowling Green Hot Rods to become the director of broadcast and media relations for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. He was the radio voice of the Hot Rods for all three of their seasons, including when they played in the South Atlantic League in 2009.

Congratulations to both of them.

In a related note, veteran broadcaster John Rodgers will be manning the Burlington Bees radio booth next season. He previously was the radio voice of the Cedar Rapids Kernels from 1996 to 2010.

  1. Tim Anderson says:

Did you listen to/get the chance to meet with many of the broadcasters on your journey through the Midwest League? Are all the teams in the Midwest League carried on a local radio station? For your new book, which I look forward to reading, it might be interesting to include a “best of” list of Midwest League broadcasters. Just a thought.

  2. I met several Midwest League broadcasters, but not all of them. Some gave me tours of their ballparks. I wasn’t able to listen to any of them broadcast a game, so I couldn’t rank them even if I wanted to. All the teams have home games broadcast on local radio stations, but a couple of them don’t broadcast away games.
