Dayton’s Torreyes on tear, raises average to .403

Dayton Dragons second baseman Ronald Torreyes is on a tear.

Today he collected three hits to raise his batting average to .403 as the Dragons won their seventh consecutive game. Dayton’s winning streak includes the three games I attended at Fifth Third Field, and Torreyes was on fire then, too, going 7-for-14 with a double, a walk and two RBI against the Peoria Chiefs. I wasn’t at Saturday’s game, but he went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Burlington Bees that night.

This is worth mentioning because on Friday, I got to meet Torreyes at an in-store signing event at Cardboard Heroes Sports Stuff inside the Dayton Mall. He signed a free autograph for everyone; the store charged $10 for each additional autograph. He also posed for photos with anyone who asked.
