Those of you who read this blog last winter surely remember my ongoing series, “Snowbound Stadiums of the Midwest League,” which featured photos of snowed-in ballparks. Most were provided by teams (and some teams were more cooperative than others), but I also used some reader-submitted photos and a couple I shot myself.
This offseason has been a bad one for snowbound stadium photos. Generally speaking, most places in Midwest League territory just haven’t gotten much snow. In fact, yesterday was the first day that more than a dusting of snow fell at one time where I live in north central Illinois. I know some Midwest League cities have gotten more snow than that this winter; snow in South Bend last month resulted in an outfield snowman that I posted a photo of at the end of this post. And, of course, there’s the photo at the top of this post, tweeted by the Dayton Dragons yesterday. I’m hoping it won’t be the last snowy stadium photo I post this offseason.
