Two former Midwest League players involved in trades today

The Arizona Diamondbacks made a pair of trades today, and both involved former Midwest League players.

The Diamondbacks sent CF Chris Young and cash considerations to the Oakland A’s for SS Cliff Pennington and infield prospect Yordy Cabrera, then traded Cabrera to the Miami Marlins for RP Heath Bell.

Pennington and Cabrera played in the Midwest League. Pennington hit .276 with 3 HR, 29 RBI and 25 SB in 69 games with the 2005 Kane County Cougars. Cabrera hit .231 with 6 HR, 47 RBI and 23 SB in 101 games with the 2011 Burlington Bees. (Cabrera played in the High-A California League this year, hitting .232 with 3 HR, 21 RBI and 2 SB in 60 games with the Stockton Ports.)
