The Clinton LumberKings played Home Run Derby on the final day of the regular season, clubbing a quartet of roundtrippers en route to winning their 10th consecutive game, a 10-3 victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
The home runs were hit by CF Patrick Brady (2), 3B Ramon Morla (13), RF Jabari Blash (15) and 2B Dillon Hazlett (7). The homers by Morla and Blash were long shots that left the park in the top of the 5th inning; Blash’s smash struck a maroon-colored minivan parked across the street from the back of the left-center field wall.
The LumberKings face the Beloit Snappers when the first round of the Midwest League playoffs begins Wednesday. Other first-round matchups are the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Burlington Bees, the Lansing Lugnuts and the Fort Wayne TinCaps, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods and the Lake County Captains.
